A number of small changes can really benefit us and help us clear our mind, clear it from mental toxins and improve our lifestyle
I was really sceptical about meditation and never thought I would be able to do it but I found it to be super beneficial and I have previously posted about meditation here
Meditation can be really helpful to empty our minds and is a great tool for relaxation. Through meditation we can teach our minds to focus on what is really important and reduce as much as possible the negative effects everyday stresses and certain distraction can have on us. Mastering meditation, we can teach ourselves to control the state of mind and eventually even the way we react to every situation.
Good Quality Sleep
This may sound cliche but sleep is a vital part of our mental health. When we go to sleep, our mind gets the chance to shut down and re order itself which can be considered as; discarding useless information and uploading important one. Sleep will also give our mind the chance to process emotional data
The Dream State
As we sleep, our mind go through different scenarios in the dream state and then carry their significance to the conscious mind. We can only go into the dream state when we are in deep sleep, so make sure to invest in a good comfortable bed and have calming surroundings that promote good quality sleep.
Make sure to get plenty of early nights as sleep deprivation is a mental toxin in itself!
This might take a little effort, but it is so much worth it. Very often we tend to get into the habit of feeling sorry for ourselves and dwell on negative feelings. This can become a vicious cycle as we start to overlook the positive elements in our life.
Start by focusing on the good things, simple things can really help change our outlook on life. My favourite is noticing a beautiful sunrise and sunset and sometimes even the cloud formations. I love skylines (I have done a previous post with some of my favourite photos here) and sea views and just by looking at a beautiful sea view I find myself relaxing instantly.
Laughter is the best medicine – we should all make time for some fun everyday
Creating Inner Peace
Taking time out from everyday stress is an important contribution to support our goal of achieving mental peace. This can be anything as long as you feel peaceful whilst doing it and you get away from the daily hectic routine
This can be any of the following but you can add anything the you feel calm doing; Sitting quietly for a few minutes, listening to calming music, take a walk in the fresh air or even treat yourself to a relaxing massage.
Everyone is different so choose something that suit your mood and taste, my favourite is going for a walk near the sea and take a couple of minutes overlooking the horizon.
