I have recently been into clearing out and sorting my stuff. I’ve been following some mimimalism blogs / you tube channels and I got hooked, then I started reading the Life Changing Magic of Tidying Up and I became obsessed!
Just to be clear, I am still not happy with how my sorting turned out, and I was really tempted to throw some things away just to make more space but I still want to use some of these products so I kept them.
I have 5 total drawers where I keep my makeup, skincare and any kind of beauty products, I have nowhere else to put them so I had to make everything fit! I am also doing the project pan / project pan followup at the moment to try and use up some of my items, because having 8 black eyeliners is not really necessary and I have a lot of sample size products which I would like to try out or use up. Some of my items are staples and once I use them up I will repurchase as I cannot live without them but doing project pan has helped a bit in minimising my stash and creating more space where everything is laid out nicely and not on top of each other.
So back to the sorting. I tried to split my items into categories:
Occasional / Spares
Occasional / Spares
Empty travel bottles
I have gathered a small makeup bag with my daily makeup which has made it much more easier getting ready in the morning. I do use some of my other products on weekends or when I have a special occasion, but during the week I usually stick to this small clear makeup bag where I have everything I need for a normal work day.
I did the same with skincare where I have a small section in my drawer with all my daily products, everything else is stored in different sections of my drawers depending on the frequency of use.
I am much happier with the way my drawers look now, but I am still looking for ways to improve them, so if you have any tips please share!
Do you have any rules you follow when sorting out your stuff?
