Drinking fresh vegetable juices is beneficial to any detox plan. A larger proportion of the vitamins and minerals can be absorbed by the body when they have been juiced because the fibre has been removed.
The following ingredients are good for detox juices:
- Carrots – are rich in beta carotene (produces vitamin A, an important antioxidant)
- Apples – are rich in vitamin C (good for the immune system)
- Ginger – is thought to stimulate gastric juices and aid digestion
A quick cleansing juice which is deliciously and easy to make:
- 2 organic carrots
- 2 organic apples
- pinch of finely grated fresh ginger
Push the carrots and apples through the juicer, once done add the ginger to taste. Stir well and serve. This can be taken as a snack or as a light breakfast especially for people who finds it difficult to have breakfast in the morning.
It is best to drink the juices as soon as they are made, as the vitamins deteriorate rapidly.
Hot Lemon and Water
Simply add a slice of fresh lemon to a mug of hot water. Have it first thing as you wake up, before breakfast to kick start your liver into action. The liver is the body’s central detoxing organ.
The lemony zing will also refresh your palate.
Lemon is renowned for its detoxifying properties. It is also a good source of antioxidant vitamin C
