The 5 DOs of Styling Comfy Outfits {Guest Post}

Heya everyone πŸ™‚ as you can see from the title, I am introducing a guest blogger to my blog to give some fashion advice, I am pleased to introduce Remi, who has amazing and easy to follow fashion tips for dressing stylish whilst still being comfortable.

Hi everyone! My name is Remi, a Melbourne based marketing student with a passion for writing, fashion and all things DIY! I enjoy dancing and doing fun things with people I care about. Feel free to drop me a line at remi.s.mayer@gmail.com or find me on facebook and twitter

Next to our everlasting desire to eat whatever we want and not get fat, we also want to dress comfortably and look good while wearing it at the same time. Mission impossible? I don’t think so! Basically all my life I’ve been dressing comfortably; being stylish was just something I added when I got some sense for it. It’s not difficult to find a perfect balance between stylish and comfy, in fact you can easily make it glamorous or cosy by pairing the right pieces. I’m going to share some of my secrets with you guys, so read on.

DO #1 – Layers

One of the easiest moves you can make is layer things up. I love wearing jeans – they are my absolute favourite pieces because they pair up so easily with nearly everything else. Tops and cardigans go so well with each other that I seldom separate them. I have this convertible drape neck cardigan that I wear all the time and simply change accessories and tops. Whoever said you cannot dress down and look stylish was terribly wrong. source

DO #2 – Play With Colours

This is easy, trust me. You can make a statement by wearing all black and red lipstick, boldly combine maroon and green, blue and orange, or add a neon detail to your everyday outfit. I love wearing my yellow sneakers with jeans and white tee, everybody I meet seems to notice them. source

DO #3– Light Materials

Light materials are perfect for wearing and they make you look good in over 90% of the cases. I often wear maxi skirts and wide pants that allow me to move freely and keep me cool when it’s warm. Also, cosy summer dresses are perfect pieces because you can also wear them when it’s cold if you pair them up with warmer pieces of clothes. source

DO #4 – Add Statement Pieces for Glam Effect

It often happens that when I find a great combination, I feel that something’s missing. It feels wonderful, but it looks just too ordinary and bland. This is why I have this huge supply of different statement pieces I like to add to my outfit. Jeans and tee look so much better with a floppy hat, and big, chunky necklaces make every neckline look fabulous. Add scarves, watches, bangles and big rings to get a more sophisticated look. source

DO #5 – Leggings

No matter if you choose printed, cotton or leather leggings, you can easily look trendy and be comfortable by pairing them up with a simple tee if it’s warm or a knitted woollen sweater if it’s cold. You can wear them with pretty much anything: flats, stilettos and combat boots, depending on the rest of your outfit. Personally, I like to wear my black boots and an oversized sweater with them and look fab. source

As you can see, it’s not difficult to put style and comfort side by side. Be careful not to overdo your outfit, though, you don’t want to look sloppy or messy. Just be true to yourself and don’t blindly follow the trends. Who knows, maybe you’ll be the next trendsetter and give me advice.

    I practically live in leggings. I love leather (well fake leather) becuase they look so polished but are still super comfy. I also love adding high socks under my boots when I wear leggings especially when it gets really cold outside!

    Oh yes, wearing layers is one of my favorite ways to make my outfits interesting and fashionable.

    Also, girls, over-the-knee socks paired with comfy skirts or sweater dresses – love love love πŸ™‚
